Buying a pressie for Mother’s Day is fraught with difficulty – flowers are nice but not very original… same goes for chocolates…. So, what DO you get your Mum to show that you care – and that she’s not just your mum but a gorgeous woman too?
Well, we’ve got some ideas for you that are anything but the usual dowdy gifts.
Let’s start with the gift of healthy-looking glowing skin:
Great for people who are a little afraid of ‘permanent’ lotions, this gives a gentle gradual colour to the skin. It can be used daily to build colour or occasionally to prolong an existing tan and is exceptionally nourishing for the skin.
The multi action micro peel gently preps & primes the skin prior to the self tan application; the easy to use tinted Self Tan Mist creates an instant bronzed effect, which can then be transformed from a day to evening look by adding a touch of the Luminosity Mineral Shimmer Dust.

This lovely kit – all presented in a glamorous silver toiletry bag – contains everything she’ll need to prepare (Tan Eraser), cleanse (SLS-Free Body Shampoo) and tan her skin (Bronzing Custard).
Great for any Mum who hasn’t tried home tanning before, as Bronzing Custard is a Gradual Tanner which you use just as you would a moisturiser. Easy!

Tan that lasts for 2-3 weeks
The latest innovation by tanning gurus Vita Liberata have come up with what can only be described as a revolution in tanning: pHenomenal.
If you want to apply your tan before you leave for a 2 week holiday and still have a great colour when you come home, then this is the one for you.
pHenomenal can last up to 4 times longer, with no streaking or smells, it’s easy to apply with the mitt provided (detailed instructions), very moisturising and – at 70% organic and 100% free from parabens, perfume and alcohol - great for sensitive skins. Best of all, it lasts really well and fades perfectly.
Available in 3 colour tones: Fair, Medium and Dark and at just £37.50 it’s a real investment for the whole of summer.
As you can imagine, I get to try lots of different tanning solutions. My favourite at the moment is the Self Tanning Foam from Sun Laboratories.
Sun Labs Self Tan Foam
You just shake the can, spray on a small dollop of the foam and then just smooth in with an application mitt.
What I love about it is that, although it goes on as a foam, once you start smoothing the consistency changes into a gorgeous creamy texture. You have total control over where it goes, unlike some lotions which can be so running that it spills straight off your mitt and onto the floor!
A little goes a long way, which means this product is extremely economical at only £20.00
What you get a a very natural looking tan: no orange at all. I tend to use Very Dark (which isn’t actually, I find it quite golden on my skin), so the Dark would be great for paler skins.
My skin can be quite dry and patchy, so some solutions ‘grab’ too much in these areas (obviously it’s best to protect these areas with a barrier product (eg Vaseline), but I found the Sun Labs results really even. And my skin didn’t feel ‘dried out’ afterwards, just well moisturised.
Tanning Kimono - prevents transfer of product
Once I’ve applied fake tan, I use our great disposable (they’re actully vey hard wearing) kimonos : one size fits (almost all) and they prevent transfer of product onto sofas etc. At just £3.50, it’s a really handy little buy; I even sleep in mine, so the tan can develop ‘at leisure’ overnight!
